Xuesong is Registered Chinese Patent Attorney and a Trade Mark Attorney and moved to Cardiff, UK in 2014 from a large firm of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys in Beijing, China. Xuesong founded IPEY in 2015 in order to assist UK and European clients with protecting their IP rights in China and also to assist Chinese clients with protecting their IP rights in the UK and Europe.
Xuesong has extensive experience in Intellectual Property Law in the UK, Europe and China andprovides advice on all aspects of UK, European and Chinese Intellectual Property to clients in a wide range of industrial sectors. Xuesong specialises in assisting Chinese clients with filing Patent, Trade Mark and Design Applications outside China and knows their needs, requirements and their way of doing business. Xuesong is able to call on the depth of the firm's IP experience to provide clear, structured and cost-effective advice in Chinese about overseas IP to the firm's clients in China.
Xuesong is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and English and provides translation services between all 3 languages.

Huw is a UK and European Patent Attorney and a Trade Mark Attorney with over 30 years’ experience in the profession. Huw joined the practice in 2021 after founding and running the Cardiff office of a Chapman IP, which was eventually acquired by a Murgitroyd & Co., although he continued to act as consultant to Murgitroyd before he took the exciting opportunity to join IPEY.
Although Huw's expertise lie in drafting and prosecuting patent applications relating to electronic and computer implemented inventions, his innate knowledge and interest in all things electrical and mechanical has enabled him to develop a broad range of clients from international companies and Attorneys firms in the UK, the USA and China. Huw routinely advises clients on searching, due diligence, as well as infringement and validity issues presented by third party IP rights.
Huw also handles Trade Mark and Design registration matters, and our proximity to the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) means he regularly handles both contentious and non-contentious Hearings at the UKIPO.

Mark is a European Patent and a Trade Mark Attorney. Mark Joined the profession 20 years ago after finishing his PhD in Electronics at Cardiff University and subsequently gained considerable experience working for Urquhart-Dykes and Lord (UDL) before joining IPEY in 2017.
Mark's experience lies in the field of electrical and mechanical engineering. Mark's clients range from private individuals to multi-national companies involved with medical devices, renewable energy, automotive components, software, communications and general consumer products.
Mark has considerable experience of all forms of intellectual property including Patents, Designs, Trade Marks, Copyright and contentious matters.
Mark also lectures University students in IP, technical writing and the use of English in the field of law. Mark is a keen inventor and holds a number of Patents, which have been successfully licenced to the likes of Disney.
